Wildlife Biologist Project Manager
A California based natural resources consultancy is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Wildlife Biologist Project Manager to lead and manage complex environmental projects in the Sacramento region. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment and is passionate about ecological stewardship and sustainable development.
As a Project Manager, you will oversee biological surveys, habitat assessments, permitting, and compliance monitoring for energy, infrastructure, and natural resource projects. You'll also mentor junior staff, manage client relationships, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage biological resource projects from proposal through completion
- Conduct and oversee field surveys for special-status species and habitats
- Prepare technical reports, permit applications, and environmental documentation (CEQA/NEPA)
- Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, and interdisciplinary teams
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and project specifications
- Mentor junior biologists and support staff development
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or related field
- 7+ years of relevant experience in biological consulting or environmental project management
- Strong knowledge of California flora and fauna, especially special-status species
- Experience with CEQA/NEPA, ESA, CESA, and other regulatory frameworks
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel for fieldwork
