Bridge Engineer
Our client, a nationally recognized Top 25 ENR engineering firm, is seeking a Bridge Engineer to support transportation infrastructure projects across South Carolina and the Southeast. This is an excellent opportunity for a mid-level structural engineer with 5+ years of experience who is passionate about bridge design and ready to contribute to impactful public and private sector projects. The Bridge Engineer will be responsible for:
- Designing and analyzing highway and roadway bridges, culverts, and retaining walls
- Preparing plans, specifications, and cost estimates in accordance with SCDOT and AASHTO standards
- Performing load ratings, structural calculations, and modeling
- Coordinating with internal teams, subconsultants, and clients
- Supporting project managers with technical execution and quality control
- Participating in field inspections and construction support services
- Assisting with proposals and client presentations
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 5 years of experience in bridge/structural engineering
- Strong knowledge of SCDOT standards and procedures
- Proficiency in structural design software (e.g., Open Bridge, ORD, LEAP Bridge, STAAD, or similar)
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain in South Carolina
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- A collaborative mindset and interest in continued professional growth
