Position Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and delivery of bushfire mitigation and prescribed burning projects. This role requires a balance of strategic oversight and hands-on fieldwork, with a strong emphasis on safety, stakeholder engagement, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of bushfire risk reduction and prescribed burning projects.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, landholders, and government agencies to ensure effective project execution.
  • Manage operational logistics, risk assessments, and compliance with relevant safety and environmental standards.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of innovative fire management practices and technologies.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in bushfire management, prescribed burning, or land/fire operations.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects, ideally within consulting, government, or operational contexts.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel and work in field-based environments as required.

Desirable:

  • Qualifications in fire ecology, forestry, environmental science, or a related discipline.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies and data-driven approaches in fire management.
