California | Transportation Analyst (CEQA/impact analysis)
About the Role:
We're looking for a seasoned transportation professional to lead traffic impact evaluations for a wide range of planning and infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on translating complex transportation data into clear, actionable insights that support environmental compliance and sustainable development.
What You'll Bring:
- Extensive Experience: At least 12 years in transportation or traffic analysis, with a strong focus on environmental review and regulatory compliance.
- Regulatory Expertise: Deep familiarity with California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) processes, especially as they relate to transportation impacts.
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in applying Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) and Level of Service (LOS) methodologies to assess transportation impacts for environmental documents.
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in transportation planning, civil engineering, environmental science, or a related field is required; a Master's degree is a plus.
- Software Skills: Proficient in traffic modeling tools (e.g., Synchro, VISSIM) and Microsoft Office; GIS experience is a bonus.
- Communication Strength: Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to produce high-quality technical reports and collaborate across disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of transportation impact assessments for CEQA and NEPA documentation.
- Analyze traffic data and trends to evaluate potential environmental effects of proposed projects.
- Conduct research and fieldwork to support technical studies.
- Work closely with planners, engineers, and environmental specialists to develop mitigation strategies.
