About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer with a background in mechanical or electrical systems to support mission-critical data center projects across the U.S. This role is ideal for a self-driven professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and is comfortable with extensive travel. As a 1099 contractor, you will receive competitive pay with benefits included in your rate.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform commissioning activities for mechanical and/or electrical systems in large-scale data centers.
  • Develop and execute commissioning plans, checklists, and functional performance tests.
  • Review design documents and submittals for compliance with project specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues during commissioning phases.
  • Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and clients to ensure successful system startup and turnover.
  • Document all commissioning activities and prepare detailed reports.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and client requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of commissioning experience, with a focus on data centers or mission-critical facilities.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical distribution, UPS systems, and controls.
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE, NEC, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to travel 100% (nationwide).
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • PE license or CxA certification is a plus.
