Concrete Estimator
A leading civil construction company is seeking a skilled Concrete Estimator to join its team in Westchester County, New York. This role is vital to the success of infrastructure projects, with responsibilities centered on preparing detailed cost estimates for all concrete-related work, including foundations, slabs, columns, walls, and structural elements. The estimator will collaborate closely with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure accurate and competitive bid proposals.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Vice President of Estimating, the Concrete Estimator will:
- Estimate concrete work for civil infrastructure projects, including site preparation, formwork, reinforcement, and finishing.
- Perform quantity takeoffs from construction drawings and specifications.
- Analyze vendor and subcontractor quotes for cost efficiency and accuracy.
- Prepare and submit detailed bid proposals.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to refine budgets and scope.
- Utilize estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, HCSS Heavy Bid, PlanSwift, ProEst, On-Screen Takeoff).
- Identify value engineering opportunities.
- Monitor market trends, material pricing, and labor rates.
- Assist in contract negotiations and project planning.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction estimating, specifically in concrete work.
- Strong technical knowledge of concrete mix designs, reinforcement, formwork, placement, and curing.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and performing material calculations.
- Experience analyzing bids, cost proposals, and labor rates.
- Familiarity with estimating software such as ProEst, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or On-Screen Takeoff.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- Proven track record of delivering accurate estimates and successful project outcomes.
