Development Associate
The Opportunity:
Join a privately held energy infrastructure company actively developing utility-scale thermal generation projects across the United States. This role offers the opportunity to support the full lifecycle of complex energy projects - from early-stage development through financing or sale - while contributing to grid reliability, community engagement, and responsible environmental practices.
Responsibilities:
As a Senior Associate, you will be a key contributor to the development of natural gas-fired generation projects. Responsibilities include:
- Supporting internal approvals for active development
- Managing project budgets, schedules, and timelines
- Negotiating and executing site control and real estate agreements
- Overseeing environmental studies and permitting processes
- Filing interconnection requests and managing related studies and agreements
- Supporting commercial strategy and offtake execution
- Coordinating with internal teams across engineering, finance, legal, and commercial functions
- Engaging with local stakeholders including government, school districts, and community groups
- Monitoring market trends, competitor activity, and identifying bid opportunities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred
- Minimum 3 years of experience in energy, infrastructure, or related industries
- Prior experience in Southwest U.S. power markets strongly preferred
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively across teams
- High ethical standards and a commitment to professional integrity
- Self-motivated, with a demonstrated ability to lead and support cross-functional teams
- Willingness to travel (~25%)
