Residential Energy Efficiency Product Advisor (Retail)

MD Territory (can be based in MD, DC or DE)

My client is a rapidly growing energy management company that serves some of the area's largest businesses, including real estate owners, restaurants, and manufacturers. We provide consulting services for utilities across the United States, and we are looking for a customer centric individual to join our team.

The Energy Efficiency Product Advisor (Retail) is responsible for supporting the growth and expansion of the EmPower, MD territory energy efficiency products. This individual will provide education and information about a local utility provider's product(s) in retail locations, to Consumer, Contractors and Distributors throughout the local service territory. The Energy Efficiency Product Advisor (Retail) will educate employees at retail locations on the product benefits and best practices for selling products to consumers, as well as assist Contractors and Distributors with understanding potential savings opportunities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide education to distributors and consumers on residential savings opportunities available through EmPower MD programs. This includes providing knowledge and information on energy-efficient technologies for appliances, electronics, HPWH and HVAC equipment to retail associates, contractors, distributors and other trade allies participating in programs targeted at the residential sector as well as consumers
  • Travel to retail locations, Contractors or Distributors within the EmPower MD service territory to support residential programs (30-50% of role)
  • Merchandise retailers participating in the EmPower MD program with Point of Purchase (POP) materials and educate retailer sales staff to promote relevant energy-efficient product messaging to consumers
  • Attend client-sponsored promotional events at wholesale and retail levels inclusive of special events at big box retail locations during evening and weekends
  • Provide outreach to Contractors and Distributors for training on programs, software and as needed in resolving rebate application issues and payments
  • Demonstrate proficiency in applicable software applications for all programs (Sightline, Vision, Microsoft Office products)
  • Prepare status reports to accurately record activities in the field and office to monitor progress towards achievement of program goals
  • Assist with other internal projects and assignments as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in business is preferred but at a minimum a High School Diploma
  • Ability to travel within the Baltimore Metro, MD, and surrounding area. Must have a current, valid driver's license, clean driving record, proof of motor vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to connect quickly with others and work effectively at all levels within and outside of the organization, including vendors and business partners
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, organizational and prioritization skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage deadlines for competing work assignments

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work well under pressure in time-critical situations and be productive and self-motivated during slow periods.
  • Flexibility to support various programs for various periods of time
  • Intermediate experience in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access is essential.
  • Advanced conflict resolution skills are required.
