General Manager - Service Mechanical Subcontractor
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead a high-performing building services team. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, financial performance, and a strong safety culture. You will inspire and develop teams, foster customer relationships, and ensure exceptional service delivery across all projects and contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the business unit with a growth mindset, identifying new opportunities and driving strategic initiatives.
- Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring compliance with all regulations and proactive hazard prevention.
- Oversee recruiting, talent development, and career planning for team members.
- Manage budgets, financial performance, and resource allocation to meet or exceed goals.
- Collaborate with sales and account managers to secure renewals and drive business development.
- Ensure quality control, process improvement, and customer satisfaction across all services.
- Direct planning and execution of projects to deliver on time and within budget.
What We're Looking For
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field (preferred).
Experience:
- 10+ years in building services operations, maintenance management, or service-based project sales, including leadership experience; OR 15+ years without a degree.
- Deep knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) and life cycle cost management.
- Strong understanding of compliance standards (OSHA, NFPA, ASHRAE) and industry best practices.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and deliver operational excellence.
- Excellent communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
