Role Overview
The General Superintendent is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all field operations on major excavation and site development projects. This individual ensures that projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulatory and company standards. The position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to manage multiple crews and complex schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership: Direct and supervise field activities across multiple job sites, ensuring adherence to project plans and specifications.
- Safety Management: Enforce strict compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety protocols; lead safety meetings and audits.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to maintain schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
- Resource Allocation: Manage labor, equipment, and materials to optimize productivity and minimize delays.
- Team Development: Mentor and train foremen and field supervisors, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Problem Solving: Address and resolve on-site challenges promptly, maintaining progress and client satisfaction.

Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of experience in heavy civil construction, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or superintendent role.

- Strong understanding of environmental compliance and soil management practices.
- Proven ability to lead large teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred; union experience a plus.
