Job Title: Office Manager (Geotechnical Engineering Leadership)
Location: Lansing, Michigan
Work Schedule: Hybrid

Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Office Manager to lead operations at our Lansing office. This is a senior leadership role, combining technical oversight, team leadership, and operational management, with responsibilities aligning closely to a Head of Geotechnical Engineering / Office Lead.

This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of a well-established office within a respected geotechnical engineering firm known for delivering high-quality services across Michigan.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

  • Provide overall leadership for the Lansing office, including staff management, mentoring, and development
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture with a focus on quality, safety, and client satisfaction
  • Lead recruitment, performance management, and succession planning initiatives

Technical Oversight

  • Oversee and review geotechnical engineering projects to ensure technical excellence and compliance
  • Provide senior-level engineering guidance and act as a subject matter expert for complex projects
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company best practices

Operations & Business Management

  • Manage day-to-day office operations, ensuring efficient project delivery and resource allocation
  • Oversee budgets, financial performance, and profitability of the office
  • Drive operational improvements and implement best practices to increase efficiency

Client & Business Development

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients and key stakeholders
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to support office growth
  • Represent the business in meetings, proposals, and industry engagements

Project Oversight

  • Provide high-level oversight on a diverse portfolio of projects including infrastructure, transportation, commercial, and public sector developments
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards

Requirements

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (or ability to obtain) strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of experience within geotechnical engineering
  • Proven experience in a leadership or office management role
