Job Summary

The Mechanical Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the successful execution of Design-Build and Plan-Spec mechanical construction projects from kickoff through closeout. This role serves as the primary liaison between clients, field teams, subcontractors, and internal departments-ensuring projects meet safety, scheduling, budgetary, and quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Project Scheduling & Planning

  • Develop and maintain project schedules.
  • Monitor critical milestones and anticipate delays or risks.
  • Prepare job start-up documentation and manage project closeout deliverables.

Financial Oversight

  • Prepare progress billings, cost-to-complete reports, and change order proposals.
  • Procure materials and equipment in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Review bid estimates, establish project budgets, and monitor job costs throughout the project.

Field & Operations Coordination

  • Collaborate with Superintendents and Foremen to develop staffing plans.
  • Monitor field labor progress and jobsite performance.
  • Work with safety leadership to establish project-specific safety programs.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate project records including submittals, RFIs, change orders, O&M manuals, and correspondence archives.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and contracts for alignment with scope.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects as needed.

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Professionally represent the organization in interactions with clients, subcontractors, and project partners.
  • Address disputes and negotiate positive, mutually beneficial solutions.

Qualifications

Required

  • Approximately 7 years of mechanical construction, HVAC, or plumbing project management experience (in line with industry-preferred 5+ years PM background).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated leadership and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or equivalent technical training.
  • Experience with CAD, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, QuickPen, or related tools.
