The Power Systems Engineer will be responsible for…
- Performing power system analysis for high voltage transmission systems
- Conducting and reviewing system impact studies, interconnection studies, steady-state flow and transient performance, reactive planning, and mitigation planning
- Use PSS/e and TARA to conduct voltage ride-through and critical clearing time analysis for generator interconnection studies related to upcoming renewables
- Will provide technical consultations and oversight to the process of new generation connection requests throughout the planning cycle
- Prepare steady state, short circuit and dynamic models
- Support senior engineer in preparing technical reports
The Power Systems Engineer should have the following qualifications:
- Bachelors in Electrical Engineering
- 6+ years of power systems analysis experience using PSS/E, TSAT or PSL
- Experience in the following:
- Stability study using PSS/E
- EMT study using PSCAD or EMTP
- Congestion analysis/cost modeling studies or cluster feasibility Studies across various ISOs (MISO, CAISO, PJM, SPP or other ISOs)
- Experience with transmission studies on power flow, voltage stability, and other power system analyses
- Background in static and dynamic modelling of power systems components in PSS/E or DSA tools, including HVDC, VSC, Static Var Compensators, STATCOM and Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitors
