Region Line Manager
Responsible for developing and implementing programs that achieve corporate objectives within assigned functional areas, while meeting department and system standards. This role is accountable for regional line operations, maintenance, and construction activities; delivering timely and high‑quality customer service; maintaining accurate operational records; coordinating underground activities involving contract crews; and leading emergency service restoration efforts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and technical expertise necessary for effective performance of all assigned operational activities, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Evaluate regional operations and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, and reliability.
- Support senior operations leadership in the planning and execution of departmental goals and initiatives.
- Direct regional construction, operation, and maintenance functions related to distribution, transmission, and substation systems.
- Plan and schedule construction, maintenance, and operations work to ensure system reliability and operational efficiency.
- Ensure all projects comply with applicable specifications, engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and safety codes.
- Maintain after‑hours and emergency response programs to ensure timely service restoration.
- Coordinate departmental activities with cross‑functional teams to ensure effective integration among customer service, construction, operations, maintenance, and special projects.
- Ensure appropriate equipment, materials, and resources are available to support all regional projects.
- Coordinate and oversee technical and safety training programs for construction, maintenance, and operations personnel.
- Promote a strong safety culture; ensure employees understand and adhere to all safety rules and provide ongoing feedback on safety performance.
- Inspect tools, vehicles, and equipment to ensure proper maintenance and safe working conditions.
- Collaborate with fleet and safety leadership to meet vehicle, equipment, and safety program requirements.
- Conduct regular meetings, including routine safety meetings, to promote a safe and productive work environment.
- Coordinate daily field activities, including service truck deployment and work planning, with relevant managers.
- Ensure effective materials management processes are in place to support operational demands.
- Enforce safety rules, policies, and procedures, taking corrective action when necessary.
- Oversee employee timekeeping, performance evaluations, training, promotions, and corrective actions.
- Manage regional budgets and control expenses to ensure financial accountability.
- Interact professionally with customers and external stakeholders to address service concerns, damage claims, work coordination, and power quality issues.
Other Responsibilities
- Serve as a representative within the community to support organizational visibility and responsible corporate citizenship.
- Support cross‑departmental initiatives and special projects as assigned.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to maintain and enhance leadership, management, and technical skills.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent technical degree) with a minimum of five years of relevant field operations experience
OR
A minimum of fifteen years of relevant field operations experience with demonstrated leadership responsibility. - Strong knowledge of electric utility construction, maintenance, operations, and service restoration practices.
- Working knowledge of applicable safety codes, construction standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
- Demonstrated planning, budgeting, and operational management skills.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving history.
- Ability to supervise work assignments and safety compliance across a diverse workforce.
