Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology
- At least 5 years of roadway design experience (Texas experience strongly preferred)
- EIT certification required; PE license preferred
- Experience working on TxDOT or other DOT projects
- Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer (ORD), MicroStation, and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, solution-focused mindset
Role Responsibilities
The Roadway Engineer will be responsible for:
- Supporting a variety of transportation projects, including roadway design, traffic operations and safety, bridge-related assignments, planning, and environmental coordination
- Preparing engineering reports, design plans, and technical specifications
- Reviewing and producing preliminary and final plans, estimates, and contract documents
- Recommending design adjustments, substitutions, and improvements when needed
- Participating in bidding and contract administration processes
- Coordinating project activities with city, county, and state agencies
- Overseeing design progress and ensuring alignment with project schedules
- Providing mentorship to junior engineering staff and technical personnel
- Working closely with clients, consultants, contractors, and review agencies to resolve complex engineering challenges
