Senior Estimator-Substation

Position Summary

As a Senior Substation Estimator, you will lead the development of detailed and accurate cost estimates for large-scale and multi-project substation construction efforts. This role is critical in ensuring that project proposals align with customer expectations and company profitability goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze project specifications, drawings, and requirements to develop comprehensive cost estimates.
• Lead the coordination of multi-disciplinary teams during the bidding process.
• Prepare and review estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
• Develop and present proposal packages including stipulated price, design-build, and construction management formats.
• Collaborate with project managers and clients to ensure alignment on scope, pricing, and execution strategy.
• Maintain and update cost databases, unit pricing, and historical data for future reference.
• Mentor junior estimators and support staff, providing guidance and training as needed.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical estimating, with a focus on substations and utility infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of substation construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
• Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
