Senior Mechanical Engineer
Responsibilities
This senior-level role involves supporting design efforts across various market sectors, with a particular emphasis on industrial projects such as semiconductor manufacturing, data centers, and advanced manufacturing facilities. The position requires foundational knowledge of mechanical systems and design, including:
- Heating and cooling load calculations
- HVAC equipment selection
- Heat recovery systems
- Air and water distribution systems
- Ventilation and process exhaust systems
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Defining scope, managing design schedules, coordinating across disciplines, and reviewing design documents for quality
- Collaborating with department leadership for resource planning
- Tracking budgets throughout the design process
- Developing RFP scopes and estimating resources
- Conducting engineering studies for technically complex clients, including phased system loading and payback analysis
- Writing technical documents such as engineering studies, Basis of Design, and Sequence of Operations, as well as explanatory narratives for non-technical stakeholders
- Overseeing load calculations, system design, interdisciplinary coordination, and signing/sealing contract documents
- Leading engineering and design teams across multiple projects
- Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to internal continuing education initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
- 10+ years of experience in industrial design and construction, with a current Professional Engineer (PE) license in the U.S.
- At least 5 years of experience as the primary engineering contact for multiple clients, either as a Project Manager or Engineering Lead
- Minimum 5 years of project management and client interface experience
- Strong technical writing skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, and Outlook
