Senior Engineer - Gas Systems
A leading global technology company is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join its Gas Systems team within the Global Facilities Engineering organization. In this key role, you will deliver expert engineering support for the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of Facilities systems across multiple semiconductor manufacturing sites worldwide-specifically focusing on Bulk Gas and Specialty Gas systems.
As a Senior Engineer, you will act as a technical authority throughout all phases of engineering and operations. You will support global facilities and manufacturing teams by driving standardization, improving system performance, strengthening reliability, and enabling sustainable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support & Expertise
- Serve as the domain expert for gas systems, providing guidance to Facilities and Manufacturing teams globally.
- Partner with internal groups-including Technology Development, Procurement, Finance, and Legal-to foster effective cross‑functional collaboration.
- Create, update, and maintain global standards, specifications, and best‑known methods (BKMs) for gas-related systems and equipment.
- Implement global standardization initiatives for engineering design, construction execution, reliability programs, and operations/maintenance practices.
- Identify design enhancement opportunities to boost efficiency, improve performance, reduce maintenance needs, and lower costs.
- Benchmark industry and internal best practices to advance Facilities engineering methods.
- Keep current with industry trends, new technologies, innovation opportunities, and sustainability advancements.
Design & Construction Project Support
- Contribute engineering expertise to major facilities infrastructure expansion projects.
- Ensure designs comply with all relevant codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and refine key system design concepts for deployment across sites.
- Work closely with local Facilities, Design, Construction, Procurement, and Manufacturing teams to support project delivery.
- Review design packages and provide detailed technical feedback.
- Assist in developing project cost estimates, schedules, and justification documents.
- Offer engineering oversight during construction phases when needed.
- Manage capacity databases and operating system trends, validating assumptions for utilization and diversity factors.
- Evaluate and advise on scope, schedules, and cost estimates for system upgrades or expansions.
Global Programs & Initiatives
- Lead or support global Facilities programs, including defining objectives, roadmaps, and implementation plans.
- Drive sustainability-related programs aligned with corporate environmental goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Process, or Industrial Systems Engineering.
- 7-10 years of experience in semiconductor or facilities-related industries.
- Strong technical background in semiconductor gas systems, including:
- Bulk and Specialty Gas systems
- Gas purification systems
- Gas cabinets and valve manifold boxes
- Hazardous/high‑purity gases and piping
- Compressed air and gas distribution systems
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Self-driven, well-organized, and service-oriented.
- Excellent communication skills and strong teamwork abilities.
- Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing and facilities operations.
- Willingness to travel internationally 25-40% generally, and up to 50-66% during major project phases.
