Structural Engineer
A nationally recognized engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join its structural team, focused on complex and high consequence infrastructure. This is a senior technical and leadership role for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving difficult problems, leading teams, and working directly with clients in regulated and technically demanding environments.
The firm provides consulting services across structural engineering, advanced analysis, performance and code consulting, and applied research. Teams work on projects where safety, reliability, and constructability are critical, often involving novel conditions or extreme loading scenarios.
Projects often involve seismic and dynamic analysis, nonlinear finite element modeling, equipment qualification, and regulatory driven design for mission critical facilities.
Role Summary
This role works closely with a Principal to manage and deliver complex engineering projects within the structural team. The position combines hands on technical leadership with project management, client engagement, and staff development. It is a leadership track role with long term growth potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead delivery of complex structural and advanced analysis projects from concept through execution
- Perform and oversee nonlinear finite element analysis, structural dynamics, and seismic design for extreme loading conditions
- Support design of equipment supports, pressure vessels, tanks, anchorage systems, and vibration mitigation solutions
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and quality in coordination with senior leadership
- Prepare technical reports, proposals, and client deliverables
- Interface directly with clients, owners, agencies, utilities, and research organizations
- Supervise and mentor engineers and technical staff, including workload planning and review
- Contribute to technical strategy, risk informed decision making, and constructability focused design approaches
Technical Areas May Include

- Advanced finite element modeling
- Risk and reliability assessment
- Design of mission critical and highly regulated facilities including energy, government, healthcare, and research infrastructure
Qualifications
- 8 or more years of relevant structural or civil engineering experience
- Professional Engineer license required
- MS or PhD in Civil or Structural Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited program
- Strong background in advanced analysis and complex structural systems
- Proven ability to manage projects and lead technical teams
- Experience working in regulated or high reliability environments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated professional credibility through project work, publications, or industry involvement
