Structural Project Engineer

Location: Downtown Tacoma, WA
Type: Full‑Time

We are seeking a Structural Project Engineer to support federal and public‑sector building projects, including work with the Department of Defense and other government agencies. This role is well suited for an engineer who can independently contribute across the full project lifecycle-from schematic design through construction-and who brings a strong background in public projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform structural design for commercial and public buildings from concept through construction
  • Lead and coordinate design efforts with minimal oversight
  • Apply applicable building codes across multiple structural systems
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and external partners

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis (required)
  • Approximately 3+ years of experience in structural building design
  • Experience working on public‑sector projects (federal, state, municipal, housing authorities, ports, parks, etc.) is required
  • Proficiency designing with timber, concrete, steel, and masonry
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable building codes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and self‑motivated

Preferred

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Washington State (or ability to obtain)
