Substation Electrical Engineer Manager
A major organization is embarking on a long‑term modernization program that includes significant upgrades to its electrical systems and overall facility infrastructure. To support this effort, the team is seeking an Electrical Manager who will oversee the technical direction, design coordination, installation activities, and commissioning of new and updated electrical systems across a complex industrial environment.
This role requires someone who can manage multiple contractors, guide design development, ensure safe and compliant execution of electrical works, and support the delivery of a large, multi‑phase capital project.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical scope of a major upgrade project, ensuring work is delivered to required standards, timelines, and budgets
- Oversee electrical system design packages and coordinate directly with engineering consultants
- Manage procurement needs for electrical equipment and ensure alignment with project requirements
- Support installation activities for substations, distribution systems, and facility‑wide electrical infrastructure
- Review technical documents, installation plans, risk assessments, and testing procedures
- Track progress, identify issues early, and work with project teams to implement corrective measures
- Oversee electrical commissioning activities and ensure systems are tested, integrated, and handed over properly
- Coordinate with operations, maintenance, construction teams, and external vendors to manage interfaces and avoid disruptions
- Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with internal and regulatory standards
Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Strong understanding of medium‑ and high‑voltage systems, transformers, protection equipment, and industrial electrical architecture
- Experience overseeing electrical work on large construction, infrastructure, or industrial projects
- Hands‑on background with commissioning, testing, and quality verification of electrical installations
- Ability to review designs, technical reports, and contractor documentation
- Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate among multiple stakeholders
- Organized, detailed, and proactive with strong problem‑solving capabilities
