Job Title: Roadway Engineer (E.I.)

Location: Chipley, Florida

Overview

Seeking a Roadway Engineer (E.I.) to support transportation projects throughout the Florida Panhandle, with a primary focus on FDOT District 3 work. This role will be heavily design-focused and offers exposure to all phases of roadway project delivery.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design of roadway and highway projects for FDOT and local municipalities
  • Prepare PS&E plans, including alignments, profiles, cross sections, and typical sections
  • Perform quantity calculations and cost estimates
  • Support drainage and utility coordination efforts
  • Utilize design software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, and GEOPAK/OpenRoads Designer
  • Coordinate with internal teams and subconsultants on project deliverables
  • Assist with plan production and QA/QC reviews
  • Participate in client meetings and project coordination as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Engineer Intern (E.I. / EIT) certification required
  • 0-4 years of roadway or transportation design experience
  • Familiarity with FDOT design standards and criteria preferred
  • Experience with MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer strongly preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a team environment

Preferred Experience

  • Exposure to FDOT District 3 projects
  • Internship or full-time experience supporting roadway design
  • Basic understanding of drainage, MOT, and utility coordination
