Transportation Engineer
The Transportation Engineer will lead and support the planning, design, and implementation of transportation infrastructure projects across New Mexico. This role involves working on roadway, highway, and multimodal transportation projects, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local engineering standards. The ideal candidate will hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Mexico and have experience managing design projects, coordinating with public agencies, and mentoring junior staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead design and engineering efforts for roadway, highway, and multimodal transportation projects.
- Prepare and review engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Conduct traffic studies, safety analyses, and transportation modeling.
- Ensure compliance with AASHTO, MUTCD, ADA, and local design standards.
- Collaborate with clients, agencies, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Support public engagement and stakeholder coordination efforts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Mexico (or ability to obtain within 1 year).
- 5+ years of experience in transportation engineering, including roadway/highway design.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and traffic analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of local, state, and federal transportation regulations.
- Excellent communication, project management, and problem-solving skills
