Position Summary:
Under minimal supervision, the Senior Project Engineer will serve as a technical expert for water and wastewater system projects, including planning, design, permitting, and construction oversight. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of wastewater conveyance and treatment systems, as well as familiarity with applicable local, county, and state regulations and public bidding procedures.

This role includes responsibility for project team leadership, technical direction, and client communication, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage planning, design, and permitting of wastewater conveyance and treatment projects

  • Apply in-depth knowledge of industry regulations, standards, and practices

  • Ensure compliance with public contracting laws and bidding procedures, especially within New Jersey (e.g., N.J.S.A. 40A:11-1 et seq., N.J.A.C. 5:34)

  • Oversee projects involving lift station design and rehabilitation, collection system assessments, and treatment process optimization

  • Conduct system-wide evaluations and contribute to asset management planning

  • Serve as primary client liaison to manage scope, schedule, and budget

  • Prepare reports, technical documents, specifications, and plans

  • Supervise, coordinate, and mentor project team members

  • Assist with proposals, contracts, scope development, and fee estimates

  • Maintain up-to-date licensure and knowledge of evolving industry standards and tools

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or related engineering discipline

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required

  • 12+ years of relevant water/wastewater project experience

  • Valid driver's license

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills

  • Familiarity with industry design software and project delivery standards
