The Opportunity

We are seeking a Wildlife Ecologist (Managerial Level) to join a highly respected ecological consulting team in the San Francisco Bay Area. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior-level professional to lead complex environmental projects, contribute technical expertise, and mentor a team of talented ecologists.

You will play a key role in delivering impactful projects focused on wildlife ecology, environmental compliance, and habitat conservation across California.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage wildlife ecology projects from proposal through delivery
  • Serve as lead biologist, providing technical expertise on wildlife species and habitats
  • Prepare and review technical reports, environmental documentation, and compliance materials
  • Manage regulatory processes including CEQA/NEPA documentation and Endangered Species Act compliance
  • Act as a primary liaison with clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders
  • Oversee project budgets, schedules, and deliverables
  • Mentor and manage junior staff, supporting team development and performance
  • Support business development efforts including proposals and client engagement

Technical Focus Areas

  • Wildlife habitat assessments and surveys
  • Environmental compliance and permitting
  • CEQA / NEPA documentation
  • Federal and California Endangered Species Act (FESA/CESA) compliance
  • Mitigation and monitoring planning
  • Construction compliance and ecological oversight

Qualifications

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Wildlife Biology, Ecology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong expertise in wildlife species and habitats in California (ideally Bay Area)
  • 4-8+ years of professional experience, including project management responsibilities
  • Experience with CEQA/NEPA and regulatory permitting
  • Proven ability to lead projects and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
