Senior Project Manager - Federal & Public Works
About the Role
A leading multidisciplinary design firm is seeking a Senior Project Manager with a strong background in managing complex infrastructure projects for Federal, Institutional, and Public Works clients. This is a full-time opportunity based in San Diego, ideal for a licensed professional with at least 10 years of project management experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead multi-disciplinary design teams on projects for federal agencies, public institutions, and municipal clients.
- Oversee all phases of project delivery: from initial research and proposal development to design execution, construction administration, and close-out.
- Manage client relationships and ensure proactive communication and issue resolution.
- Support business development efforts including proposal writing, SF330 preparation, and client outreach.
- Mentor junior staff and ensure quality assurance across deliverables.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external partners including contractors and government agencies.
Qualifications
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in California
- Minimum 10 years of experience in civil engineering or architecture project management.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in CAD/BIM, BlueBeam, and Microsoft Office.
- Experience in business development and client engagement.
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently and meet deadlines.
Preferred Experience
- Established relationships with agencies such as USACE South Pacific Division, NAVFAC Southwest, or institutions in higher education and healthcare.
- Familiarity with design-build delivery and facilitation of client charrettes.
- Skilled in forecasting, cost estimating, and project strategy development.
