Role Overview
A well-established, employee-focused contractor specializing in water and wastewater infrastructure is seeking an experienced Assistant Superintendent to support field operations on complex treatment plant, pump station, and facility upgrade projects across New England. This organization has built its reputation on technical execution, safety, quality, and long-term commitment to the communities its projects serve.
This is an opportunity to join a company where the work is meaningful, the projects are technically interesting, and developing field leaders are given the chance to grow. The role is ideal for someone who already has strong construction experience and is ready to take on greater responsibility while working closely with a Superintendent and project team to keep work moving safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with day-to-day field operations on water and wastewater treatment, pump station, and related infrastructure projects from mobilization through closeout.
- Support subcontractor coordination, site logistics, safety, quality, schedule performance, and communication with project management and engineering teams.
- Review contract documents, drawings, and shop drawings; help identify issues early and support RFIs, field coordination, and resolution of site challenges.
- Track material deliveries, site activities, production, and workforce planning to help keep projects moving efficiently.
- Maintain strong documentation and communication across daily reports, progress updates, safety, and coordination meetings.
- Support punch list, turnover, and closeout efforts on technically demanding municipal and infrastructure jobs where sequencing, quality, and professionalism matter.
What They're Looking For
- Experience in water, wastewater, pump station, treatment plant, utility, or heavy civil construction.
- Prior field leadership experience as an Assistant Superintendent, Foreman, Lead Operator, or similar role.
- Strong familiarity with site operations, subcontractor coordination, safety, quality control, and schedule support.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and project documents and communicate effectively with project teams.
- Comfortable working in active facility environments and fast-paced project settings.
- OSHA certification and willingness to travel regionally to project sites are preferred.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
- You'd be joining a contractor focused almost entirely on critical water and wastewater infrastructure, not generic commercial work.
- The company has a long-standing presence in New England, a meaningful project portfolio, and a reputation built around disciplined execution, safety, and quality.
- This is a strong opportunity for someone looking to grow into a Superintendent role over time while gaining exposure to complex, technically interesting projects.
- The organization is known for investing in its people through training, development, and long-term career opportunities.
- Benefits are strong and designed to support both personal stability and professional growth.
