Automation & Controls Engineer
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Control Systems Engineering
Minimum 5 years of experience in automation and controls engineering, specifically in water/wastewater treatment or distribution systems
Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the state of employment (e.g., California)
Skills:
Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Modicon, etc.)
Experience with SCADA systems (Wonderware, Ignition, FactoryTalk, etc.)
Strong understanding of instrumentation and process control for water/wastewater systems
Familiarity with HMI development, telemetry, and industrial networking
Ability to design and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and control logic diagrams
Knowledge of water quality regulations and compliance standards
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain automation systems for water/wastewater treatment facilities
Lead system integration efforts across PLC, SCADA, and field instrumentation
Perform system troubleshooting, calibration, and optimization
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, mechanical, and environmental engineers
Prepare and review technical documentation, specifications, and reports
Support commissioning and startup of new control systems
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
