Building Automation Specialist

Location: Chicago, IL (On‑site / Hybrid depending on project)
Type: Permanent or Contract (flexible)

Role Overview

We're looking for a Building Automation Systems (BAS) Technician with hands‑on experience working on Tridium Niagara, Siemens, or Johnson Controls (JCI) platforms. You'll support installation, programming, commissioning, and ongoing service of BAS across commercial and industrial facilities in the Chicago area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and commission BAS/DDC systems
  • Program and modify control logic using Niagara (N4), Siemens (Desigo / Apogee), or JCI (Metasys)
  • Integrate HVAC equipment (VAVs, AHUs, chillers, boilers, BMS networks)
  • Perform system troubleshooting, diagnostics, and point‑to‑point testing
  • Interpret control drawings, sequences of operation, and network architecture
  • Support system upgrades, expansions, and client handover/training
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams

Required Proficiency (any one of the below)

Tridium / Niagara
  • Niagara N4 certification preferred
  • Experience with BACnet, Modbus, and IP‑based integrations
  • Graphics, alarms, trends, and station setup
Siemens
  • Desigo CC or Apogee experience
  • Controller programming and commissioning
  • Strong understanding of Siemens field panels and networks
Johnson Controls (JCI)
  • Metasys (ADX, SCT) experience
  • Logic modification, graphics, and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with JCI controllers (NAE, FAC, FEC)

Desired Background

  • 3+ years BAS / controls field experience
  • Strong HVAC fundamentals
  • Electrical and controls troubleshooting skills
  • Valid driver's licence (site travel required)
  • EPA certification or relevant trade qualification a plus
