Commercial Director (ESG/Sustainability/Sustainable Finance)

Position Overview
This leadership role drives the design and delivery of Finance Transformation and Managed Services programs across APAC. The Director will modernise client finance functions through digital, operating model, and process redesign while integrating ESG reporting, sustainable‑finance requirements, and climate‑related financial insights into finance operations.
The role requires a commercially minded advisor with the ability to bring ~USD 1M in annual business and influence C‑suite stakeholders across mid‑market and growth‑stage clients (USD 100M-1B revenue).
Key Responsibilities
Regional Leadership & Execution
- Lead multi‑market finance transformation programs from assessment through delivery.
- Develop regional frameworks aligned with global standards, incorporating ESG, climate‑risk, and sustainability‑linked finance considerations.
- Guide clients on building resilient, tech-enabled finance organisations.
Project Delivery
- Oversee finance operating model redesign, process optimisation, ERP/finance system enablement, and performance management upgrades.
- Support clients in meeting sustainability and regulatory reporting expectations (ISSB, CSRD, TCFD, MAS).
- Embed ESG KPIs, carbon‑related financial data, and sustainability‑linked insights into planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
Vendor & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as primary advisor to CFOs, finance leaders, sustainability teams, and risk committees.
- Collaborate with technology providers, ESG data platforms, and assurance partners.
- Provide training and thought leadership on sustainable finance and non‑financial reporting.
Commercial, Budget & Resource Management
- Build and manage a pipeline targeting ~USD 1M in annual new business.
- Lead proposals, commercial structuring, and cross‑practice go‑to‑market efforts.
- Manage engagement budgets and oversee multi-country delivery teams.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline; professional certifications (CPA, CA, CFA) preferred.
- 9+ years' experience in Finance Transformation, Managed Services, or consulting; advisory firm background preferred.
- Strong exposure to ESG reporting, sustainable finance, climate‑risk metrics, and non‑financial data governance.
- Track record in developing business and managing mid‑market clients (USD 100M-1B).
- Excellent stakeholder management and the ability to operate independently.
