The engineering team supports utility-scale renewable energy projects by designing and implementing SCADA and controls solutions that enable safe, efficient, and data-driven plant operations.
The position offers the opportunity to work across the full lifecycle of renewable energy control systems, from design and development through implementation, commissioning, and technical support. It is well suited to an engineer who is comfortable working cross-functionally and enjoys contributing in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Position Overview
The Control Engineer supports the continued development of the organisation's SCADA and controls platform for utility-scale Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and Wind projects.
This role will work closely with project management, engineering, and field teams to deliver monitoring and control systems through detailed design, procurement support, programming, implementation, and commissioning. The position is full-time and includes travel of up to 20%.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop SCADA and control systems for utility-scale Solar PV, BESS, and Wind projects
- Configure SCADA platforms, RTUs, power plant controllers, and related networking/IT equipment
- Produce core technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, point lists, logic diagrams, and HMI layouts
- Program and commission PLCs, SCADA servers, historians, and HMIs
- Prepare project deliverables such as commissioning documents, as-builts, operator manuals, and training materials
- Support installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and client technical support for monitoring and control systems
- Coordinate communication setup including interfaces, protocols, IP addressing, and firewall requirements
- Work with project management to track progress, risks, and mitigation actions

Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering-related field such as Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Science
- 3-5 years of relevant controls, SCADA, or technical engineering experience
- Experience with PLC programming, SCADA systems, HMIs, and commissioning
- Exposure to renewable energy, including utility-scale Solar PV, BESS, or Wind, is highly desirable
- Knowledge of programming or scripting languages such as Python, C/C++, Java, or Structured Text is advantageous
- Experience with Inductive Automation Ignition is a plus
- Familiarity with servers, databases, and web-based applications is beneficial
- Understanding of serial and Ethernet-based communications, including RS-232, RS-485, and TCP/IP networking, is preferred
- Strong analytical, technical, and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
