PLC & Automation Programming

Allen‑Bradley Systems

  • Design, program, test, and commission PLC systems using Allen‑Bradley platforms.
  • Develop control strategies using Ladder Logic and other applicable programming languages within RSLogix / Studio 5000.
  • Configure and troubleshoot FactoryTalk View SCADA/HMI applications.
  • Implement advanced diagnostics, alarm management, and system optimization.

Siemens PLC Programming (Expanded Focus)

  • Design, program, and commission Siemens PLC systems, including S7‑300 / S7‑400 / S7‑1200 / S7‑1500 platforms.
  • Develop automation solutions using TIA Portal, including:
    • PLC logic development using LAD, FBD, and Structured Text
    • HMI development using WinCC (TIA Portal / WinCC Advanced / WinCC Professional)
  • Implement Siemens motion, PID control, and process automation functions.
  • Configure PROFINET, PROFIBUS, and Ethernet‑based communication networks.
  • Integrate Siemens PLCs with third‑party devices, DCS systems, SCADA platforms, and historians.
  • Perform online troubleshooting, system optimization, and legacy Siemens system upgrades.
  • Support migration projects from legacy Siemens platforms to modern TIA Portal environments.
  • Develop standardized Siemens programming templates, libraries, and best practices.

SCADA, Data, and System Integration

  • Design and develop SCADA systems for monitoring, control, alarm management, and reporting.
  • Integrate databases, historians, and custom reporting solutions.
  • Support VMWare‑based virtualization environments for control system servers.
  • Implement system security, user access control, and redundancy strategies.

Electrical Design & AutoCAD Responsibilities (Expanded Focus)

  • Develop detailed control panel and electrical design drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Create and maintain:
    • Control panel layouts
    • Power distribution diagrams
    • PLC and I/O schematics
    • Network architecture diagrams
    • Instrumentation and wiring drawings
  • Generate panel BOMs, wiring schedules, and I/O lists to support fabrication and installation.
  • Ensure designs comply with:
    • NEC
    • ISA standards
    • Customer‑specific specifications and industry best practices
  • Coordinate with panel shops, electricians, and field technicians during fabrication and installation.
  • Review and redline drawings based on as‑built conditions and commissioning feedback.
  • Support design modifications and system expansions for brownfield and greenfield projects.
  • Maintain drawing standards and documentation consistency across projects.

Safety Systems & Network Design

  • Design and implement industrial safety solutions, including safety PLCs and safety‑rated control systems.
  • Configure and troubleshoot industrial Ethernet networks and distributed I/O architectures.
  • Integrate safety systems with both Allen‑Bradley and Siemens platforms.

Project Execution & Leadership

  • Lead technical execution of medium to large automation projects.
  • Support project planning, scheduling, and scope definition.
  • Provide on‑site startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting support.
  • Serve as a technical mentor for junior engineers and programmers.
  • Interface directly with clients to define requirements and present technical solutions.
  • Ensure projects are delivered within scope, schedule, and quality expectations.

Documentation & Engineering Tools

  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including:
    • Functional design specifications
    • Control narratives
    • Test and commissioning procedures
  • Use Microsoft Office, including Excel, for reporting, data analysis, and documentation.
  • Work within Windows‑based engineering environments.
  • Utilize Simulink and modeling tools where applicable for control strategy development.
