DeltaV Engineer

A leading engineering and systems integration firm is seeking experienced DeltaV Engineers to join its automation team supporting clients in the life sciences sector. This role involves designing, configuring, and deploying Emerson DeltaV control systems tailored to pharmaceutical and biotech manufacturing environments. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to impactful projects that support global healthcare innovation, while working within a collaborative, technically driven organization.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Emerson DeltaV automation solutions aligned with client specifications and industry standards.
  • Design batch processes using ISA-88 methodology.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver customized control strategies.
  • Engineer system architecture, instrumentation, and control logic to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Configure controllers, HMIs, and historian systems in compliance with GAMP 5, cGMP, and 21 CFR Part 11.
  • Conduct Factory and Site Acceptance Testing to validate system performance.
  • Support commissioning and troubleshooting during system deployment.
  • Maintain documentation aligned with software development lifecycle and validation protocols.
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, validation, and project management teams to ensure timely and budget-conscious delivery.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to technical knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience with DeltaV Batch configuration and ISA-88 standards.
  • Familiarity with historian systems, alarm management, and advanced control techniques.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., HART, Fieldbus, Modbus TCP/IP, OPC).
  • Proficiency in control strategy development and loop tuning.
  • Understanding of industrial networking and system integration.
  • Experience in life sciences (biotech, pharma, medical devices) preferred; relevant DeltaV experience in other industries also considered.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks including GAMP5, cGMP, and 21 CFR Part 11.
  • Electrical design experience and AutoCAD familiarity are advantageous.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Exposure to other automation platforms (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens PCS7) is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel for on-site support and commissioning.
  • Effective communication skills for technical documentation and team collaboration.
  • Commitment to innovation, quality, and problem-solving in regulated environments.
  • Ability to translate functional requirements into detailed design specifications.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Control Systems Engineering (or related field).
  • 3-7 years of experience in automation engineering, with a focus on Emerson DeltaV systems.

Work Environment

Office Setting:

  • Standard desk/cubicle workspace
  • Frequent use of engineering software and control system tools

Field Work:

  • Occasional physical activity including lifting and climbing during commissioning
