Design Principal - NYC
Our client is on the lookout for a skilled Principal to join their NYC team. This role involves leading interview presentations, fostering and expanding client relationships, and providing support during public meetings. As a leader, you'll be responsible for motivating, recognizing, and boosting the morale of the project team. This position offers growth opportunities within the firm and exposure to a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent our client and nurture client relationships
- Serve as the main point of contact between our client's team and the client/owner
- Lead the project team and consultants
- Ensure project success by overseeing scope, schedule, and budget
- Develop solutions for project and team challenges
- Define program requirements and set project parameters based on client needs
- Plan long-term for clients and their future projects
- Create and develop project/design concepts; strategize and present to clients
- Collaborate with consultants throughout design phases
- Manage project budget and update the owner
- Handle client interactions and decision-making related to projects
- Mentor, train, and guide project teams
Qualifications:
- Preferably a licensed architect
- Minimum of 15 years of experience
- Familiarity with local, state, and national building codes, regulations, and approval processes
- Experience in all phases of project management and design, including long-term planning and budget management
- Knowledge of building materials, construction methods, costs, and codes relevant to the design process
- Awareness of current trends and future growth areas within the industry
- Public speaking experience
- Ability to manage client expectations, team communication, and consultant coordination effectively
- Evaluate design alternatives based on site and code requirements
- Experience in marketing, client interviews, and relationship building
- Proven ability to create and maintain a client network and leverage it for design opportunities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and leadership qualities
- Willingness to travel as needed
