The Role

As a Director of Structural Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing major projects and guiding multidisciplinary teams. Your work will span restoration, renovation, and new construction, with responsibilities including:

  • Overseeing multiple major projects and managing staff organization and planning.

  • Managing new build, renovation, and development projects through all phases.

  • Leading Project Managers in a multidisciplinary project environment.

  • Performing structural analysis of building systems and novel design concepts.

  • Designing structural systems for restorations, renovations, and new building projects.

  • Coordinating structural design details with architectural and MEP teams.

  • Producing CAD drawings for bid and permitting processes.

  • Reviewing shop drawings, RFIs, and conducting site visits during construction.

  • Managing budgets, tracking change orders, and ensuring project health.

  • Prospecting new business and developing client relationships.

  • Scoping proposals and estimating staff utilization.

Candidate Profile

  • 10-18 years of relevant experience in structural design and analysis of mid- to high-rise buildings.

  • Minimum 5 years of Local Law 11/FISP experience.

  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering or related field (preferred).

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

  • QEWI and/or QPSI would be ideal
  • Strong experience with steel and concrete design, structural alterations, and layout design of structures (building type, framing type, lateral resisting elements).

  • Project management experience in façade, roof, plaza, and garage repair projects.

  • Expertise in building envelope inspection and restoration design.

  • Experience with Local Law 11 reporting, including site inspections, condition recording, and DOB documentation

  • Proficiency with engineering software including AutoCAD, RISA 3D, RAM, and ETABS.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to thrive independently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Extensive New York City project experience.
