Electrical Engineering Project Manager - Power Generation

Position Overview

A leading multidisciplinary consulting, engineering, and design firm is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Project Manager to support and lead projects within the power generation and energy infrastructure sector. This role is responsible for managing complex electrical engineering projects from concept through execution, ensuring technical excellence, adherence to scope, schedule, and budget, and strong client satisfaction.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in power generation systems with proven project management experience and leadership capabilities.


Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Leadership

  • Lead and manage electrical engineering projects focused on power generation (e.g., thermal, renewable energy, distributed generation, or utility-scale systems)
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and internal teams
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and resource plans
  • Monitor project performance and ensure alignment with contractual and financial objectives
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and resolve technical and operational issues

Technical Oversight

  • Oversee the design and development of electrical systems including generation, transmission interconnections, and plant distribution
  • Review and approve engineering deliverables such as one-line diagrams, specifications, load studies, and protection schemes
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., NEC, IEEE, NERC, local utility standards)
  • Provide guidance on system studies including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and coordination

Client & Business Development

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients in the power and energy sector
  • Support proposal development, including technical approach, scope definition, and cost estimating
  • Identify opportunities for project expansion and new business within existing accounts

Team Coordination

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams including electrical engineers, designers, and other engineering disciplines
  • Mentor junior staff and provide technical direction and career development support
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external partners to ensure seamless project execution

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 8-12 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on power generation or energy infrastructure
  • Proven experience managing engineering projects, including budgets and schedules
  • Strong knowledge of power generation systems and electrical design practices
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills

Preferred

  • Experience with renewable energy systems (solar, wind, battery storage)
  • Familiarity with utility interconnection processes and requirements
  • Experience with engineering consulting firms or EPC environments
  • Proficiency in electrical analysis and design software (e.g., ETAP, SKM, EasyPower)
