Role Overview

As a Electrical Project Engineer - Renewables/Substations, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining high-voltage systems for renewable energy projects. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable electrical infrastructure across our portfolio.

Opportunity to sit 100% remote in the US if preferred. Compensation will vary based on years of experience but can vary from $120,000 - $190,000 depending on seniority.


Responsibilities can include...

  • Design and specify high-voltage electrical systems for renewable energy projects (wind, solar, battery storage).
  • Develop single-line diagrams, protection schemes, and grounding systems.
  • Perform load flow, short-circuit, and arc-flash studies using industry-standard software.
  • Oversee installation, commissioning, and testing of high-voltage equipment (transformers, switchgear, breakers).
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, IEC, and local utility standards.
  • Provide technical support during construction and operations phases.
  • Design and prepare detailed drawings for high-voltage substations (69kV and above).
  • Develop layouts, single-line diagrams, and protection/control schemes.
  • Specify equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, and switchgear.
  • Perform grounding, insulation coordination, and short-circuit studies.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (IEEE, NEC, NESC) and utility requirements.
  • Provide technical support during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
  • Collaborate with civil and structural teams for integrated substation design.

Qualifications...

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in high-voltage systems (69kV and above).
  • Experience with substation physical design, or protection & control.
  • Familiarity with renewable energy projects and grid interconnection requirements.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools and power system analysis software (ETAP, AutoCAD, or similar).
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of protection and control systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • PE Licensed not required but a plus.
