About the Opportunity

A well-established national environmental and engineering consulting firm is seeking a Principal Environmental Practice Leader to provide technical, operational, and strategic leadership for its North Texas environmental practice.

This highly visible leadership role combines project oversight, office leadership, staff development, client management, and selective business development responsibilities. The successful candidate will serve as a senior leader within the organization, guiding technical teams, strengthening client relationships, and supporting the continued growth of the regional practice.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced environmental consultant who enjoys mentoring teams, leading complex remediation projects, and serving as a trusted advisor to clients while helping shape the direction of a growing office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day operations of the environmental practice, ensuring successful project execution, staff utilization, and financial performance.
  • Manage and mentor a team of environmental professionals, including project managers, engineers, geologists, and scientists.
  • Provide leadership in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, performance management, and professional development.
  • Serve as Principal-in-Charge for complex environmental investigation, remediation, redevelopment, and compliance projects.
  • Oversee project delivery, including budgets, schedules, resource allocation, invoicing, and quality management.
  • Act as a senior technical resource and advisor for multidisciplinary teams.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients across industrial, commercial, energy, infrastructure, and public-sector markets.
  • Identify opportunities for organic growth within existing client accounts and support strategic business development initiatives.
  • Lead proposal strategy, scope development, pricing discussions, and client presentations for key pursuits.
  • Represent the firm at industry organizations, networking events, conferences, and client meetings.
  • Collaborate with regional and corporate leadership to establish growth objectives and operational priorities.
  • Foster a positive culture focused on technical excellence, collaboration, employee engagement, and safety.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • 12+ years of environmental consulting experience with a strong background in site investigation, remediation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven experience managing environmental consulting projects, budgets, and client relationships.
  • Previous experience supervising, mentoring, and developing technical staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage office or practice-level operations.
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulations, including CERCLA, RCRA, TCEQ, and related state and federal programs.
  • Experience supporting proposals, client development efforts, and expansion of existing accounts.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Established professional network within Texas environmental consulting markets is preferred.
