About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Due Diligence Consultant to join a growing environmental and transaction advisory team in Irvine, California. This position will play a key role in supporting clients through complex real estate transactions, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), portfolio evaluations, and risk assessment projects. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, project leadership experience, and a proven track record managing environmental due diligence programs for institutional investors, private equity firms, developers, corporations, and legal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage environmental due diligence projects related to acquisitions, divestitures, refinancing, and portfolio transactions.
  • Conduct and oversee Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) in accordance with ASTM standards.
  • Evaluate environmental liabilities, regulatory compliance concerns, and transactional risks associated with commercial and industrial properties.
  • Support domestic and international M&A due diligence efforts, including environmental risk reviews and transaction advisory services.
  • Review environmental reports, regulatory records, historical site information, and compliance documentation.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and defensible due diligence reports for clients and transaction stakeholders.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and client communications.
  • Mentor junior consultants and provide technical oversight on complex assignments.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, geologists, attorneys, lenders, developers, and corporate clients.
  • Assist with business development efforts, client relationship management, and proposal preparation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of experience in environmental due diligence consulting.
  • Significant experience supporting transactional due diligence and M&A transactions.
  • Extensive knowledge of ASTM standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale due diligence projects and transaction support assignments.
  • Strong understanding of environmental compliance, site contamination issues, and risk evaluation.
  • Excellent technical writing, communication, and client management skills.
  • Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and budget objectives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certifications such as PG, PE, CHMM, or similar credentials.
  • Experience managing national or multi-site portfolio due diligence programs.
  • Familiarity with environmental compliance audits, remediation liabilities, and ESG-related transaction considerations.
  • Existing client relationships within real estate, private equity, institutional investment, or corporate sectors.
