Salary: $85,000 - 120,000
Overview
This role is designed for an experienced environmental professional who combines strong technical expertise with project management, financial oversight, and team leadership skills. You will work within a multidisciplinary team of engineers, geologists, and environmental specialists to deliver complex site investigation and remediation projects. Success in this role requires strong communication, organization, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
This position is primarily based in St. Paul, MN, with a flexible hybrid schedule. Periodic in-office presence is expected for team collaboration and mentorship. Occasional travel may be required for project work.
Essential Functions
- Manage environmental projects including site characterization, remedial design, and technical reporting
- Oversee and coordinate site investigations, risk assessments, and remediation of soil, groundwater, and sediment
- Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal regulations (including MPCA, RCRA, CERCLA)
- Develop and evaluate remedial strategies and support clients in achieving regulatory closure
- Prepare and review work plans, technical reports, cost estimates, and project schedules
- Drive projects forward by aligning scope, budget, and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with internal teams, clients, regulatory agencies, and subcontractors
- Support team development, including mentoring junior staff and contributing to performance management
- Manage subcontractor engagement including scope development, bidding, and field oversight
- Provide technical support for emergency response activities as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field
- 5+ years of environmental consulting experience
- Experience managing remediation and site investigation projects
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, particularly MPCA programs
- Proven ability to advance projects through regulatory closure
- Experience with SPCC and SWPPP programs preferred
- Professional certifications (e.g., PE, PG, CHMM, EIT/GIT) are a plus
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER (required); OSHA 10/30 preferred
