Estimator - Civil Construction & Infrastructure

Responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the Estimating Department to produce cost estimates for both current and potential future projects. These projects span multiple lines of business including:

  • Heavy Civil Construction (e.g., pile-supported foundations, large excavations, roads, bridges, site work)
  • Underground Utilities (e.g., water, electric, gas, stormwater, sanitary, communications, fiber)
  • Pipe Rehabilitation (trenchless technologies)
  • Guide Rail and Sign Structures
  • Renewable Energy (e.g., wind, solar, battery storage)

The department currently focuses on projects within a multi-state region in the Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic United States.


Essential Functions

  • Develop complete estimates for assigned opportunities
  • Create and manage schedules for estimate completion
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits
  • Review construction plans and specifications
  • Determine construction means and methods based on site conditions
  • Perform quantity takeoffs
  • Guide and support Estimating Engineers in takeoffs and vendor quote solicitation
  • Review and analyze subcontractor quotes for compliance
  • Build detailed estimates including labor, equipment, crew productivity, and materials
  • Present estimates to senior management for review
  • Finalize and submit estimates by required deadlines

Minimum Qualifications and Required Skills

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related field preferred
  • 8-10 years of progressive experience in field construction operations
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications
  • Ability to develop construction methods and detailed cost estimates
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Familiarity with estimating software (B2W preferred; training available)
  • Experience with Bluebeam, Agtek, and other takeoff tools preferred
  • Knowledge of scheduling software (Primavera or similar) preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
