About the Role:
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Heavy Civil Estimator to join our growing team. This is a critical role within our preconstruction department, responsible for developing accurate, timely, and competitive cost estimates for a wide range of heavy civil construction projects.
The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of civil construction practices, a strategic mindset, and a strong command of industry-standard estimating tools-HeavyBid, HCSS, and AGTEK software experience are essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs using AGTEK and other digital tools to ensure precision and efficiency.
- Develop and maintain cost databases, unit pricing, and historical data to support accurate forecasting.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather input and validate assumptions.
- Utilize HeavyBid to structure estimates, manage bid items, and generate proposals that are both competitive and profitable.
- Participate in bid reviews, value engineering sessions, and risk assessments to ensure alignment with company goals.
- Stay current with market trends, labor rates, material costs, and subcontractor pricing to maintain competitive edge.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in heavy civil construction estimating.
- Proficiency in HeavyBid, HCSS, and AGTEK software.
- Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, particularly in earthwork, utilities, and roadway construction.
- Ability to read and interpret civil engineering drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
