Estimator - Power Projects (Remote)
Salary: $100,000 - $160,000
A remote opportunity is available for an experienced Estimator to support electrical power projects across substation, transmission, and distribution sectors. The position involves preparing detailed cost estimates for utility‑scale work and requires strong practical knowledge in at least one major area of power‑sector construction. Candidates with broader exposure across multiple disciplines are especially encouraged to apply.
This role is suited for professionals comfortable handling complex scopes, working independently, and contributing advanced technical insight during the bid process.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare cost estimates for power‑related construction projects, which may include:
- Substation civil, structural, or electrical components (above or below grade)
- Transmission line construction (overhead or underground)
- Overhead or underground distribution work
- Review drawings, specifications, and bid packages to define project scope.
- Conduct quantity takeoffs, material/labor pricing, and equipment evaluations.
- Request and assess subcontractor and vendor quotations.
- Identify cost‑efficiency opportunities and constructability considerations.
- Assist with development of bid strategies and proposal submissions.
- Maintain cost data and support continuous improvement of estimating practices.
Qualifications
- Significant estimating experience in the electrical power sector, with strong expertise in at least one of the following:
- Substation construction
- Transmission line work
- Distribution systems
- Ability to interpret complex engineering documents and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with industry estimating tools (such as Accubid, McCormick, HeavyBid, or similar).
- Solid understanding of construction labor units, material assemblies, and utility standards.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a remote setting.
Preferred Experience
- Background with investor‑owned utilities, cooperatives, municipalities, EPC firms, or electrical contractors.
- Knowledge of utility standards such as NESC or IEEE.
- Experience working with either union or non‑union labor environments.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $100,000 - $160,000, aligned with depth of experience and technical capability.
- Fully remote position
