Field Inspector / Field Engineer - Tunneling (Hard Rock)
Location: Squamish, BC
Rotation: 14 days on / 7 days off - Overtime option of 20 days on / 10 days off
Compensation: Up to $110,000-$115,000 base salary + overtime + ~5% annual bonus
Accommodation: Hotel provided while on site with $75/day food allowance.

About the Role
My client is a nationally recognized engineering firm, is seeking a Field Inspector / Field Engineer to support a hard rock tunneling project in Squamish, BC. This is a hands-on field-based role ideal for professionals with experience in rock mechanics, tunnel construction, and geotechnical investigations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily field inspections of tunnel construction and geotechnical activities.
- Prepare detailed daily inspection reports with supporting photographs.
- Perform rock mapping and assess tunnel and slope geology.
- Monitor and enforce contractor compliance with health and safety protocols.
- Coordinate materials testing and review results for contract compliance.
- Track and manage RFIs, submittals, deficiencies, and red-line drawings.
- Attend and contribute to progress meetings, risk workshops, and schedule reviews.
- Provide technical feedback on contractor schedules and construction documentation.
- Support utility coordination and liaise with approval agencies and stakeholders.
What We're Looking For
- Progress toward or completion of a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geological, or Geotechnical Engineering (Master's a plus).
- Experience with tunnel and trenchless projects in Canada or the U.S.
- Strong background in rock mechanics and rock support design.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced field environment.
- Willingness to work weekdays, nights, and weekends as required by the project.
