About the role

As our Forensics Structural Engineer, you will manage structural forensic engineering assignments, perform forensic engineering assessments, provide verbal/written reports for insurance carriers, attorneys, homeowners, and property managers. You will also serve as an expert for multiple litigation cases. This requires travel within 150 miles of your office location and occasional travel for work with other office locations/staff or geographic regions. You will be exposed to a variety of field conditions that include, but not limited to, ladders, walking on a variety of roof coverings, accessing roof attic or floor crawlspaces, walking, and assessing interior and exterior conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communication with clients before and after site visit and post report production, to review/clarify scopes and explain observations and findings.
  • Perform on-site interviews with a variety of individuals to collect histories, data, concerns, etc.
  • Photograph site conditions with an eye to explain conditions and determining cause of loss.
  • Review codes, standards, research and apply critical formulation of facts to develop conclusions that assist clients resolve concerns and are defensible.
  • Supervise, when appropriate, junior engineer (EI's) in field work, report development, and research.
  • Develop reports that outline site observations, applicable codes, standards, findings, and conclusions.

Qualifications

  • B.S. Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architecture Engineering.
  • M.S. Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering is preferred.
  • 4+ years of relevant structural engineering experience (investigation, forensic)
  • Residential and/or Commercial inspection & assessment experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of building codes and standards and construction practices is required. Litigation experience is a plus.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license.
