About the Opportunity
An established multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm is seeking a Geotechnical Project Manager to join its growing team in the Detroit area.
This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects spanning commercial, industrial, transportation, municipal, energy, and land development sectors. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing geotechnical projects from proposal through completion while serving as a trusted advisor to clients and mentoring junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage geotechnical projects from proposal development through final deliverables.
- Plan and oversee subsurface investigation programs including drilling, sampling, and field testing.
- Review and interpret geotechnical field and laboratory data.
- Prepare and review geotechnical engineering reports and recommendations.
- Perform and oversee analyses related to:
- Shallow and deep foundations
- Settlement evaluations
- Bearing capacity
- Earth retention systems
- Slope stability
- Pavement design
- Ground improvement
- Coordinate project schedules, budgets, and resources.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Support business development efforts through client relationship management and proposal preparation.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and technical staff.
- Collaborate closely with civil, environmental, surveying, and construction professionals on multidisciplinary projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain.
- 6+ years of geotechnical consulting experience.
- Strong understanding of subsurface investigations, geotechnical analysis, and foundation design.
- Experience managing projects, budgets, and client relationships.
- Proficiency with geotechnical software such as GeoStudio, gINT, Rocscience, PLAXIS, or similar platforms.
- Strong report writing and communication skills.
- Ability to lead projects while balancing technical and client-facing responsibilities.
