Heavy Civil Construction & Site Development Project Manager

A well-established, family-owned construction company specializing in sitework, excavation, and earthwork is seeking an experienced and motivated Project Manager. This individual will be responsible for leading and overseeing the planning, execution, and successful completion of civil construction projects across the region. The role involves evaluating project costs, managing profit margins, and ensuring the thorough execution of safety plans and subcontract agreements. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of civil construction projects from initiation to closeout.
  • Oversee project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure timely and budget-conscious delivery.
  • Evaluate project costs and profit margins, analyzing financial data to ensure profitability.
  • Draft, review, and manage subcontracts to align with project goals and legal standards.
  • Develop and enforce project-specific safety plans.
  • Collaborate with estimators, field supervisors, and clients to maintain alignment on project objectives.
  • Monitor project progress, manage risks, and adjust plans to address potential delays or budget issues.
  • Supervise subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Prepare and deliver regular progress reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and local authorities.
  • Contribute to business development through participation in bids, proposals, and client meetings.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: At least 4 years of experience managing civil construction projects, particularly in sitework and excavation.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficient in cost analysis and financial performance evaluation.
  • Subcontract Management: Skilled in drafting and managing subcontracts.
  • Safety: Knowledgeable in safety regulations and capable of developing comprehensive safety plans.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Effective at identifying and resolving project-related challenges.
  • Technology: Proficient with project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project) and estimating tools.
  • Organization: Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with regional building codes and industry standards.
