A leading organisation in a high-risk sector is looking to appoint an experienced HSE Manager to lead initiatives that support a safe, compliant, and high-performing work environment. This role plays a central part in shaping and sustaining effective health, safety, and environmental practices across all business operations.

About the Role
The HSE Manager will be responsible for the ongoing development and management of HSE systems, policies, and improvement initiatives. Working closely with operational leaders, this role will focus on ensuring compliance with relevant legislation while fostering a culture where safety is integral to day-to-day activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee compliance with Federal and State health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as internal standards and procedures
  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of HSE management systems and digital reporting tools
  • Monitor and maintain key safety metrics and ensure timely reporting and analysis
  • Support field teams with documentation such as HSEQ Management Plans, Risk Registers, SWMS, and emergency preparedness plans
  • Coordinate internal and third-party audits, including the annual audit schedule
  • Review and update policies to reflect legislative and industry changes
  • Assist in the preparation of HSE documentation for tender submissions
  • Provide training and mentoring to operational staff to strengthen understanding and application of safety principles
  • Prepare updates and presentations for senior leadership and contribute to HSE board reporting
  • Promote initiatives that contribute to the development of a mature and proactive safety culture

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or a related discipline
  • Certified Lead Auditor (Diploma in Auditing highly regarded)
  • Minimum of five years' experience managing HSE functions within a high-risk or complex environment
  • Proven experience delivering safety initiatives and implementing or enhancing HSE systems
  • Familiarity with WHS Monitor or similar digital HSE platforms is desirable
