Position Overview

The Industrial Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in a water and wastewater treatment environment. This role ensures reliable operation of pumps, motors, controls, instrumentation, and power distribution systems critical to safe and efficient treatment processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation & Maintenance

    • Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, conduit, switchgear, and motor control centers.

    • Service and calibrate electrical components of pumps, blowers, compressors, and other process equipment.

  • Troubleshooting

    • Diagnose electrical issues in PLCs, VFDs, SCADA systems, and instrumentation.

    • Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions to minimize downtime.

  • Preventive Maintenance

    • Conduct routine inspections of electrical systems to ensure compliance with safety and reliability standards.

    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.

  • Safety & Compliance

    • Follow NEC, OSHA, NFPA 70E, and local codes for electrical safety.

    • Ensure lockout/tagout procedures are strictly followed.

  • Collaboration

    • Work closely with operations, mechanical, and instrumentation teams to support plant reliability.

    • Assist engineers in system upgrades and capital improvement projects.

Qualifications

  • Education/Certification

    • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in electrical systems preferred.

    • Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent certification required.

  • Experience

    • 3-5 years of industrial electrical experience (water/wastewater preferred).

    • Hands-on experience with PLCs, VFDs, SCADA, and motor control systems.

  • Skills

    • Strong knowledge of electrical schematics, blueprints, and troubleshooting techniques.

    • Ability to work independently and in team environments.

    • Familiarity with confined space and hazardous environment protocols.
