Position Overview

We are seeking an Electrical Designer to support the development of electrical distribution equipment and engineered power solutions for industrial, utility, data center, and critical infrastructure projects. This role focuses on creating and maintaining electrical drawings, supporting engineering documentation, and assisting project teams through design, manufacturing, and implementation phases.

The ideal candidate has experience working with electrical CAD software, power distribution equipment, and manufacturing-focused engineering environments. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside engineers, project managers, and production teams while contributing to complex and highly customized electrical projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain electrical drawings using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar design platforms.
  • Develop documentation including one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, control schematics, panel layouts, cable schedules, and interconnection drawings.
  • Interpret electrical drawings, engineering markups, customer requirements, and vendor documentation.
  • Convert preliminary concepts and engineering direction into complete design packages suitable for manufacturing and installation.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project teams to support design reviews and improve manufacturability.
  • Develop and maintain bills of materials, ensuring alignment with project requirements and engineering documentation.
  • Support manufacturing teams by responding to production questions and resolving drawing-related issues.
  • Assist with control panel, switchgear, switchboard, panelboard, and power distribution equipment layouts.
  • Coordinate with procurement, production, quality, and project management teams to support project execution.
  • Maintain revision-controlled drawing packages and support engineering change processes.
  • Review drawings and documentation for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Participate in factory testing, inspections, and troubleshooting activities as needed.

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate degree, technical certificate, drafting certificate, electrical technology background, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in electrical drafting, electrical design, industrial design, manufacturing support, or related disciplines.
  • Strong proficiency with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar CAD platforms.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and one-line drawings.
  • Understanding of common power distribution and control components, including breakers, relays, transformers, contactors, terminal blocks, panelboards, and switchgear.
  • Experience creating and maintaining drawing packages, bills of material, and revision-controlled documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and project teams.

Preferred

  • Experience with industrial control panels, switchboards, switchgear, or power distribution equipment.
  • Familiarity with UL 508A control panels and electrical equipment design practices.
  • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IEEE, UL, or other electrical standards.
  • Experience supporting low-voltage and medium-voltage electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with ERP, PLM, document control systems, or engineering change processes.
  • Experience supporting data centers, industrial facilities, utilities, manufacturing environments, renewable energy projects, or other critical infrastructure applications.

Work Environment

  • Hybrid work arrangement based in Phoenix, Arizona.
  • Combination of office, manufacturing, and occasional field support activities.
  • Up to 10% travel for project meetings, site visits, testing, or customer support.
  • Frequent collaboration with engineering, production, and project management teams.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary and work within manufacturing environments.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $115,000 - $140,000+, depending on experience, technical expertise, and overall qualifications.
